Malocclusion is defined as a bad bite of the teeth. It is not a disease but it is a disorder of teeth and jaw. Our aim is to cure these disorders and provide an aesthetic function in biting chewing, speaking and smiling.. There may be different kinds for malocclusion which are growth surplus either on the upper or lower jaw, growth retardation either on the upper or lower jaw, impacted tooth, missing tooth, forwardly positioned front teeth, deviousness, deep bite, open bite, diastema.
REASON FOR MALOCCLUSION
Premature loss of milk teeth cause the space for developing teeth to close.
Genetic factors, ear-nose-throat problems, wrong habits, birth anomalies, permanent tooth loss.
WHEN IS THE FIRST ORTHODONTIC EXAMINATION
It is advised that children should have their first examination before 7 yers old. Diagnosing the problem sooner is best to cure. Any age is appropriate for orthodontic treatment once teeth are healthy. Orthodontic x-ray is taken to determine the treatment plan. Before beginning the treatment cleaning the calculus, curing the decays should be completed.
THE APPLIANCES USED IN ORTHODONTICS
1.Fixed orthodontic appliances (brackets) is the most common method to move the teeth. They can be metal or transparent.
2.Movable orthodontic appliances are used for simple problems. They can be put on and out by the patient. They are used in small distortions.
3.Extra mouth appliances are the support outside the mouth
4.Functional appliance can be moveable and fixed
WHAT TO EAT DURING FIXED ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT
The patient may have hard time in eating for a couple of days. Chewing may cause pain. soft food like yogurt, icecream, puding,soup,boiled patatoes, banana, milk are recommended.
WHAT NOT TO EAT
*Crispy crunchy food: Corn flakes, cips,etc.
*Sticky food: Cramel, gum, jellybones,etc.
*Hard food: Nuts, sugar, almond, etc.
*Bitten food: Apple, plum, carrot, etc.
*Asidic drinks: Acid soda, acidic fruitjuice,etc.
During orthodontic treatment oral care should be done carefully. Teeth should be brushed after each meal or snack to remove the food leftovers from the brackets and wires interface brush should be used.
To reduce the bacteria in mouth gargling should be made after brushing.
Tooth paste with fluoride and a soft brush should be used. Patient must receive constant dentist control.
Treatment duration depends on the amount of problems.
It most patients it lasts 1,5-2 years. In some cases it may last 6 months to 3 years.
In fixed orthodontic treatments the appointments with the dentist varies 4-6 weeks.
Itis a passive treatment to prevent a teeth from returning to their old state after active treatment is over.

The treatment lasts 3 to 4 months in one sided patients, 4-5 months in two-sided patients.A fter connecting slit parts, surgery on nose and lips is operated. orthodontic treatments has to be begun at 7-8 years of age as needed.
It is frequent breathing pauses during sleep. The amount of oxygen in blood reduces during these pauses increasing the amount of carbondioxide in blood.
In mild and medium sleep apnea, an aparatus is put into mouth to pull the lower jaw towards front enabling a greater way to breathe.
